With more than 75 staff members the School of Education is one of the largest and most active centres of educational research in the UK. We are housed in a new £19 million landmark building offering some of the best teaching facilities on the south coast. As you would expect from one of the UK’s leading research-driven universities, our tutors have many years experience at local, national and international level in developing practice and theory in the fields of education and sport.

The SoE offers 13 master's programs, 4 doctoral level programmes and 4 UG programmes plus others, leading to careers in a variety of fields. Our inspections by both OFSTED and the Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency have identified our teaching, support and QA systems as being of the highest quality and our Research Degrees are all recognised for quality by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
